We are looking for a Workshop Controller to join our busy Engineering team in one of our City Garages.
Our Workshop Controllers manage the daily workload within the Engineering workshop. You will be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of safety, health and environmental arrangements are adhered to and that the highest standards of working practices and housekeeping are maintained.
You will:
- Organise and maintain an overview of all work carried out ensuring that this meets Lothian vehicle standards
- Conduct inspections and carrying out regular quality audits
- Liaise with internal contacts on Engineering related operational matters
- Ensure that staff receive appropriate guidance and training to enable them to meet with all vehicle standards requirements
- Carry out final preparation MOT checks where required
- Support the Depot Engineer/Assistant Depot Engineer in ensuring that the depot workshop operates within financial budget
- Produce reports and information that may be required on an ad-hoc basis
- Ensure that vehicle availability is such that Peak Vehicle Requirement (PVR) is achieved at all times.
Who are we looking for?
- You must possess a full UK driving licence
- A PCV licence is desirable, however the ability to obtain a PCV licence whilst in our employment is essential
- You will possess an appropriate NVQ/SVQ level 3 engineering qualification
- Have a suitable track record in technical skills
- Supervisory experience within the transport industry is essential
- You will possess good communication skills
- An in-depth knowledge of DVSA & PSV standards and current and up to date HSE legislation are essential.
- Flexible approach to working hours.
