We are looking for a Vehicle Examiner to join our busy Engineering team at Lothian!
We are looking for a Vehicle Examiner to join our Engineering team at one of our City Garages. You will be responsible for ensuring the timely and efficient performance of all vehicle inspections in accordance with engineering SOPs and DVSA testing requirements. This includes brake testing, smoke testing, and checking the vehicle internally, externally and underneath to ensure that all vehicles comply with and exceed minimum DVSA and company standards at all times.
This is a full-time position, generally 39 hours per week Monday-Friday, however a degree of flexibility will be required to meet the needs of the business.
What Will You be Doing?
• Examine vehicles to comply with and exceed minimum DVSA standards at all times
• Provide Supervisors with the necessary accurate information to ensure that performance indicators are being achieved
• Audit vehicles for MOT presentation
• Provide Supervisors with information concerning reoccurring faults/defects
• Ensure health & safety regulations and safe working practices are adhered to
• Ensure that all company policies relating to vehicle condition presentation and standards criteria are used at all times when assessing defects
• Take all responsible steps to stay informed and up-to-date with current legislation relating to Vehicle Inspectorate MOT standards and Categorisation of Defects.
What Do You Need?
• You must possess a full UK driving licence
• A PCV licence is desirable, however the ability to obtain a PCV licence whilst in our employment is essential
• Time-served motor vehicle tradesman, familiar with DVSA standards
• Relevant experience with vehicle inspections
• Ability to work under pressure and work as part of a team
• A flexible approach to working hours
