Digital and Campaigns Officer
Lothian Buses is looking for a Digital and Campaigns Officer to be part of their Communications team based in Edinburgh.
As the main bus operator across Edinburgh and the Lothians, Lothian is dedicated to delivering an outstanding customer experience offering a city-wide network 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Operating for over 100 years, Lothian is now one of the region’s largest employers with over 2,600 colleagues.
We are looking for a proactive and creative Digital and Campaigns Officer to support the planning, delivery, and evaluation of multi-channel marketing campaigns. The role has a strong emphasis on digital marketing, social media, and advertising, while also supporting wider brand and out-of-home (OOH) activity. The postholder will help to drive engagement, raise brand awareness, and support organisational growth through integrated campaigns.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Marketing
- Plan, deliver, and monitor digital campaigns across paid and organic channels.
- Manage social media platforms, creating engaging content that is aligned with Lothian’s priorities and business objectives, to drive community interaction.
- Optimise website content and user journeys for campaign activity.
- Track, analyse, and report on digital campaign performance, providing insights for improvement.
- Work with design/content teams to produce engaging multimedia assets (graphics, video, copy).
Campaigns & Advertising
- Support the delivery of integrated marketing campaigns across digital, OOH, and print.
- Liaise with media agencies and suppliers to book and manage advertising placements.
- Assist in the creative development of campaign assets, ensuring consistent branding.
- Monitor competitor activity and market trends to inform campaign planning.
- Contribute to campaign evaluation, measuring reach, engagement, and ROI.
General Marketing Support
- Support events, PR activity, and partnership marketing as required.
- Ensure campaigns are aligned with organisational objectives and audience needs.
- Maintain accurate marketing records, campaign schedules, and budgets.
- Contribute creative ideas and innovative approaches to campaign planning.
Person Specification
Essential Skills & Experience
- Formal Qualification(s) in Marketing, Communications, PR or other related disciplines is essential.
- Experience in digital marketing and campaign delivery.
- Strong working knowledge of social media platforms (including TikTok and Instagram) and associated advertising tools.
- Ability to write engaging content tailored to different audiences.
- Good understanding of campaign measurement and analytics (e.g. Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite).
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of audience targeting and segmentation.
- Previous experience working with external agencies/suppliers.
- Experience with content creation tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, video editing).
- Previous experience in transport or tourism.
